Great Bang For The Buck – 10 Inch Netbook Critique
I love the rubbery feel of the lid, easy to grip and hold onto. I don’t like touchpads, so I bought a wireless mouse and it works perfectly.
My uncle sells refurbished laptops, so I’ve had many in the past, all different makes and brands, but this is definitely the nicest and easiest to use laptop I’ve ever had. I definitely don’t regret shelling out the money for a new laptop for college. This is just what I was looking for: a compact portable netbook that performs in most respects like a larger, more expensive laptop. My only complaint thus far is the highly reflective screen which makes it difficult to use under some bright light conditions; perhaps I can find some sort of film that will alleviate this problem.
The display is crisp and clear, the webcam works as well as my Logitech 9000, it never seems to get even warm much less hot while my laptops both sit on cooling pads and feel hot to the touch. The keyboard is the best, firm and solid – no sticking keys and amazingly they all work!
A little slow but that’s what I expected. There is nothing that impedes my usage. I’ll upgrade my review to four stars if the memory upgrade fixes the sluggishness/Netflix hiccups. I’ll provide an update in a week or two once I try it with the extra RAM.
After only 18 months of use, the mother board failed, and I had a $300 paper weight that was useless. The repairs would have been over $200, so it was a no-brainer not to repair it. The 8 hours battery life is awesome. The screen clarity is amazing. Since it is a netbook, it is not suitable for gaming or really anything very processor or memory intensive. But as a 2nd computer for travel or work, it’s great. I’ve only had the little guy for 24 hours but everything is as advertised. All I wanted was something small and lightweight that I could type on to take notes at church.
I did upgrade to 2G of memory. Now I know nothing about computer innards and the replacement was very easy.
I’m a video engineer in Hollywood, and therefore I expect pure playback, not little glitch lines or breaks in the video, which this laptop does. As of this date it seems to handle 480 as good as 360 and below. I also love that even though this Laptop is small, the keyboard is full size. Overall, it is a great on-the-go laptop, especially for a college student. That helped me to make the decision on this netbook. I did a month of research before making my decision. This NB 505 does not produce heat!
Be careful since the screen is easy to break. cheap receipt scanner.
